My connection to horses

I first sat on a horse at just four years old. Back then, riding was simply about staying on as the horse walked in circles. However, my journey was soon interrupted when we moved. It wasn’t until I discovered another riding club near our new home that I resumed, this time learning to trot and canter. As my teachers grew more confident in my abilities, I began exploring trails, tackling steep inclines and slippery slopes. My first gallop was exhilarating—a moment that hooked me for life.

Eventually, I realized I had outgrown the joy-riding club and set my sights on going professional. My search led me to Gulab Singh Equestrian (GSE), where one of India’s top dressage riders became my mentor. At GSE, I learned the fundamentals of dressage and showjumping, practicing on my leased horse, Recardo. A true schoolmaster, Recardo guided me through my first competitions in both disciplines. Later, with him and another leased horse, Portobello, I qualified for the Showjumping Nationals.

It was at GSE that I first met Godfather, a horse who immediately captivated me with his playful and expressive, almost human-like personality. However, I wasn’t allowed to ride him at first. That changed during Nationals, when I finally had the chance to try him. The connection was instant, and it felt inevitable that I would make him mine. Today, our journey continues together.

pets and i

As far back as I can remember, I’ve loved the idea of having pets. At six years old, I began tirelessly pleading with my parents for a dog. After a couple of years, they finally agreed, and we got Bolt (in the picture above), my first pet. Having him was an incredible experience that brightened my life and confirmed how much joy pets bring.

When Bolt was about nine, I got my first horse, Sam, an off-the-track Thoroughbred. While not ideal for showjumping, I knew from the start that our time together would be short, as I’d eventually need a warmblood for higher-level rounds. After just over four months, I was fortunate to get Godfather, who has been with me for over two years now.

Shortly after getting Godfather, Bolt passed away due to old age, and I welcomed my current dogs (in the picture to the left), Ginger (a Golden Retriever) and Titan (a Doberman), into my life. Alongside them, I’ve spent countless hours training with my leased horses, Recardo and Portobello. While they taught me invaluable lessons, I’ve never quite seen them as pets—our bond was different.

Hobbies

and interests

  • Music and Visual Arts: My love for music and visual arts started around the same time in primary school in the first grade. Thanks to my school at the time, we had facilities and opportunities to practice these crafts as scheduled classes. However, I enjoyed learning them so much that I began taking classes outside of school and my parents supported me immensely to learn these arts. I can’t say for sure but I believe I was quite a natural, my teachers and friends always told me I was really good at both and I really took pride in that. Sadly, I haven’t recently been practicing either as I started preparing for high-school.

  • COOKING: I would consider it my primary hobby that I haven’t pursued professionally. Since early on I had a taste for international cuisines and I found that high quality dishes made with authentic ingredients were far too expensive in restaurants and cheaper alternatives just couldn’t hold up to my palate. So I started cooking -at the age of 6- dishes that I thought I could make better and for far cheaper. I never compromised on the ingredients searching out authentic ingredients for example, cheeses, flour, meats, and herbs. Often this meant I had to find imports yet it was much more economical than if I were to order those in a restaurant.

My website wouldn’t be complete without mentioning landmark worldwide. My father was the first to participate in the forum. And my mother participated soon after. Not only did they participate in the forum they completed the entire curriculum as well as several other courses. My mother eventually started leading the introduction to leadership program as a volunteer though she doesn’t anymore she is involved with landmark and participates even today. My father on the other hand is a active communication course leader today and my entire family has also participated many times. I did my first forum for children in May 2014 when I was 8 years old. Since then I’ve done the forum 4 times in total, the advanced course and other courses. Right now, as of February 2025 I am on a journey to complete the curriculum and other courses. Landmark, has shaped my life, perspective, language. and being. Landmark taught me how to create possibilities I want and gives me the tools to achieve it. Thanks to landmark I am able to lead a powerful, successful life and I have the courage to strive for ambitious goals.
